MBChB MRCGP GP with Special involvement in Child Health Surveillance. Runs a Minor Surgery Skin Clinic. Accredited Trainer of Foundation Doctors and Medical Students.
Dr Beeston is one of our salaried Doctors, working 3 days in the practice. She has a special interest in the treatment of pain
Dr Laura Maher is a Salaried GP working 2 days a week at Alvanley Family Practice. She has a special interest in Women and childrens health and Mental Health.
Katherine is our Lead Nurse for Chronic Disease Management, travel advice, smears, asthma, diabetes and the leads the team of other nursing staff.
Katherine sees many of our patients with minor ailments in her daily clinics and is able to prescribe
Melissa has joined us as a Practice Nurse having been a District Nurse for a number of years in Tameside. She is our specialist nurse is respiratory illnesses such as asthma and COPD and also has special skills to manage older peoples health and areas such as frailty. She undertakes Childhood vaccination and immunisations as well as chronic disease management and cervical cytology
Naomi is a Physician Associate, able to see and manage all patients that a GP can see. She is by background an experienced Microbiologist and is working at Alvanley Family Practice on a full time basis as part of the Clinical Team.
The role of Physician Associate is new at Alvanley Family Practice, and we are the first practice in the area to appoint to this exciting role. In order to become a Physician Associate you must be a graduate who has undertaken significant post graduate training and work under the supervision of a doctor. They are specially trained to perform a number of tasks including:
Gaynor is a level 3 HCA which means she can work independently and on specific areas of expertise such as helping people to give up smoking and setting health related targets.
She works with the GP's and Practice Nurse Team to support them with blood tests, blood pressure monitoring, spirometry and diabetic initial checks amongst other things
Rez is our Apprentice Health Care Assistant supporting the Nursing Team. She is managed by Katherine and is able to undertake blood tests, blood pressure monitoring and ECG's
Kay is our Business Manager and leads the team of Administrative staff within the practice
Sara is our Senior Administrator having day to day responsibility for finance matters and extended knowledge of prescribing.
Janet is a highly skilled and experienced Medical Receptionsist and leads our team on a daily basis. Janet should be the first port of call for any issues, complaints or compliments about the service you receive from our front desk and telephone support.
In addition Janet can also help with queries about accessing our on-line services
